How I measured audio delay

Read the “worst of 20” column before the median column. A set that averages 41 ms but occasionally spikes to 73 ms will feel less reliable than one that sits at 38 ms and never exceeds 49 ms, because your brain adapts to a constant offset and cannot adapt to a variable one.

The compromises show up in two places. The worst of twenty captures was 73 ms, meaning the link occasionally hitches in a way the better sets do not, and the dongle is the longest in the test at 27 mm of protrusion. Earbuds or a headset? The trade-off nobody puts on the box

Across all eight sets, the form factor gap in measured delay was under 4 ms, so latency is not the deciding factor. Three other things are.

Problems that show up after the first month
